I have been experimenting with this doll over a long time, fiddling with the foot pattern, fiddling with different face styles.
She is quite dear to me actually as she has accompanied me through some frenzied and some dreamy times, through a year of inner change. I kind of feel she is a part of me and I love her for that.
It's good sometimes to just free myself of any preconceived ideas of my work and just follow my instincts. I mean I kind of do that with every doll but allowing time to experiment without thought of whether the doll I create will find a home gives an extra layer of freedom and puts me in a place of greater vulnerability.
From that vulnerability and openness has come this little girl
I think her name is Bennie from my own nickname when I was young.
She is mine to keep.
She is my heart in a doll
