Having a large wild garden is just the best thing when you have dreamy little children. Lots of trees and garden beds and long grass so that they can feel like they are a million miles away and be peaceful with their own thoughts.
Trees with low horizontal branches that are easy to climb up into and with smooth bark so you don't tear your clothes or graze your legs when you wiggle around to find the best dreaming spot.
A little knitted dilly bag for treasures, perhaps cherries or brambles or grapes or one big fat apricot. but all that comes later, after the early spring. For now she hides a few sultanas and raisins from the pantry in her bag and once they're eaten she can pick some flowers to take inside to put in the little cut glass vase.
The virgilia tree is the very best place to be.
She can almost see the little puffy clouds and she can hear all the little birds skitting around in the garden. The birds think she is part of the tree so they don't worry about her and get on with their very busy business.
Polly is a little jenny wren Mabel style doll, she is around 18" tall and made from soft cotton knit skin and Tasmanian pure wool stuffing. Her face is hand embroidered and her hair is a crocheted mohair wig that can be gently styled.
Polly is wearing a smock top and bloomers made from Tilda cotton fabrics and trimmed with ric rac. The top is secured at the back with mother of pearl buttons.
She has woollen hand knit button up shoes and a wool/alpaca hand knit pom pom beanie hat. Of course she also has her very precious dilly bag.
