I am giving myself a summer project though no doubt it will take longer than that because I am easily distracted. I want to make myself an example of each type of doll I make. I have very few of my own dolls and I think if I revisit my past work it will make me very happy. It will also mean I will have models if I want to make clothes for past dolls.
I may well sort through all my clothes patterns too because things that were once my favourites get forgotten over time.
I guess this follows on from my last post about the Jammy Gems, such a lovely doll and I don't have one. Well Jenny, you can fix that easily.
My little Etsy shop will be 10 years old in 2016, it's a good time to review. This time 10 years ago I was coming to the realisation that selling my dolls locally to what was a tiny niche market was going to be very difficult and would need some lateral thinking. Thank heaven for the internet and Etsy.
So making a doll or two or three or more for myself is going to be weird but it's kind of exciting. Of course I will still be making dolls for sale, this is very much a side project, a little just for me project.
I love that my work fosters an appreciation of the innocence and playfulness of childhood, encourages nurturing. The world needs more people in touch with the wonder of childhood.
I hope that is what my work does in its own small way.
