I have this idea that I make too many different kinds of dolls. Just having one or two styles makes it easier to have clothing patterns available, people can have sets of siblings, I can consolidate my work and not jump from one style to another and back again.
I had decided that I wouldn't make any more Jammy Gypsy dolls after all I have only ever made six of them so they wouldn't be missed. Then I was going through photos of this year's dolls to put them into the 2015 Flickr folder and I came upon Hannah and my heart skipped a beat. I hadn't realised just how much I love her.
Of course then I had to go through all the Jammy Gypsy pictures and had to face the fact that I love this style of doll.
Somehow they look different to my other work but still very much my work.
So now I don't really know what to do.
Rationalising the number of styles doesn't seem to work well for me because there is something about each one that tugs at my heart.
Each is an expression of some aspect of me.
I will need to spend more time, considering.
Perhaps I should make one of each type and really think while I work which one speaks the most to me.
Perhaps that is what will happen in the summer break.
