Angelica is in a way related to my Julian doll and my Dora doll. a couple of years ago I began reading about Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf and their lives and the people they knew. I wrote down a list of the names of Vanessa's children and grandchildren plus I added Dora for Dora Carrington who was quite young when she joined the Bloomsbury set. So Julian was created first and has held my heart for a long time, earlier this year dear Dora came into being and now Angelica has finally been realised. there are eight more to go: Quentin, Amaryliis, Henrietta, Nerissa, Frances, another Julian, Cressida and Virginia.
Angelica had a difficult life but I think a marvellous childhood, wild and free and surrounded by beauty, I think she did 'tread wild and sweet ways" in a bohemian household. I think my Angelica embodies the spirit of the child who wonders and seeks and is enthralled by all she sees. We all know children like this, perhaps you were one and still hold that wonder in your heart.
She is waiting for you now, in the shop.
