I have been busy, of course I have been busy, I have a doll making workshop next week and preparations are in full swing. You know what I like best about these workshops, well there are a few things but one of them is that I love to see people getting in touch with their curious inner child, to find out how things go together and really enjoy the process as well as the final product. To see them feel the magic of being creative, seeing them feel the playfulness that comes with a little handmade doll.
The thing I like about hand quilted quilts and even more so with hand pieced and hand quilted quilts is the energy and love you feel that softens the quilt as it's made and somehow makes it all meld together. I guess hand knitted or crocheted things hold the same magic. The more your hands work the materials and hold the materials and the more you look at what you working on and let it become part of your being the more life it has, the more magic and the more quiet energy and peace is there.
It's the same with these hand made dolls, the wool stuffing, piece by piece and moulding it with your hands, the hand stitching, the hand embroidery, the knitting, the crochet. It's a wonderful thing. Love live handmade goodness, things that need the knowledge of skilled hands to come into being.
I know I will see the magic being made in my little workshop next week. And once the magic is out there there is no going back. Exciting!
