Today I traced and stitched four doll bodies ready to be made into Mabel dolls. I have already made their heads. I did that some weeks ago, Jack, Quentin, Angelica and Amaryllis are all part of my slow moving collection. Dora is already made and half dressed.
Jack and Quentin are all rough and tumble but very moved by tales of bravery and kindness. Angelica loves all things in nature and loves to give elaborate funerals for the dead beetles and butterflies she finds in the garden and Amaryllis fancies herself a playwright, director and leading actress too.
I really do have to be in just the right frame of mind to stitch the bodies, the frame of mind where I see the task as the beginning of something magical rather than a quite tedious job that must be done. Today I made sure I was concentrating on the little beings I want to create and we got along just fine. I do think the wintery weather that has descended on little jenny wren land is helping to concentrate my mind.
