It really has been a slow week in the sense that time has drifted past and I have achieved almost nothing except to start to get used to my quiet dog less house.
I’ve done some knitting, reading, cleaning, dreaming, mending. No real doll work but I’ll get back into it. My workroom is a bit of a tip, it’s hard to get started when you have to clean up first.
I popped into town this morning to buy the Easter goodies. Easter is such an easy celebration, no presents, just food and family and lovely autumn weather. For me , for my family, Easter has become a celebration of family and cosiness and our wonderful island home’s natural beauty. The leaves are only just starting to turn but the light has changed, the weather is a little cooler especially overnight and that cosy feeling is beginning to settle.
I’ve bought some vintage Peter Rabbit cross stitch kits to do. It’s yonks since I’ve done any cross stitch but I couldn’t resist. I haven’t seen the Peter Rabbit movie, have you? I think I would rather stick to the books and my Peter Rabbit videos from the early 90s with Niamh Cusack as Beatrix Potter. I saw some Peter Rabbit toys in town today and they have changed his face and the blue of his little jacket. I think it is denim now. Gah!
So life goes on and the ones we love who are no longer with us are carried along with us in our hearts and memories. It’s seven years today since my dad died. It’s hard to believe. I do think about him still most days, always happy memories and that is such a wonderful gift he left me.
