We have had a few days of windy wet weather, perfect for knitting or reading or, if you are a cat, sleeping for 23 hours of each day.  I can't blame them, it's very cosy in the house with the wind and rain outside. My husband is working from home for a couple of weeks which is a bit of a challenge for both of us as I'm used to having the house to myself and I have a loose routine to my working day that I wasn't really aware of until the interloper arrived. He is feeling rather strange with it all too, having lost the natural division between work place and home. I guess we will muddle through and it's only for a couple of weeks. I'm not used to him spending hours on the computer and on the phone when normally on weekends and holidays he is doing yardwork or fiddling with the car or repairing something.

I finished the second Elizabeth Goudge book in the Eliot Chronicles trilogy. I do enjoy the magical, whimsical aspects of the book and she portrays children so well and adults too. I sometimes felt the second book was a little predictable and I am interested to read the third and final book The Heart of the Family. I have read this one before but some time ago and without the benefit of the first two books. But first I am going to read The Common Years by Jilly Cooper. Again this is a re read, I have in fact read it two or three times before. I have never read any of  Jilly Cooper's novels, just this  diary of dogs and nature and changing seasons over ten years of walking her dogs on Putney Common. I have also read her book Class about social classes in the UK which was very entertaining and it needs a re read but it's lost on the bookshelves somewhere and as the books are two layers deep it is a bit of a task to go searching for a particular book. We do desperately need some new bookshelves.

Back to my book now and a step back to 1972, goodness I was only 13 then.

What books are you reading this season?

I think this yarn is so pretty. I found it in my stash of beautiful indie yarns. I’m making a smock top or maybe a dress for my next Biographie doll.
